BT 1 signs a memorandum of co-operation with the State Committee for Tourism Development of Uzbekistan
On 30 June of the present year the Ķīpsala International Exhibition Centre was visited by a delegation from Uzbekistan in order to meet with Viesturs Tīle, Chair of the Board of the International Exhibition Company BT 1, and Dainis Bricis, Manager of the International Travel Trade Fair Balttour. The meeting resulted in a signed memorandum on the bilateral co-operation between the Balttour and Tourism on the Silk Road (TITF) fairs.
The Uzbek delegation was led by Anvar Sharapov, Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development, and Afzal Artikov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Latvia.
The Uzbek delegation was greeted at the Ķīpsala International Exhibition Centre by Viesturs Tīle, Chair of the Board of BT 1, who provided information on the business trends of fairs in Latvia and showed around the exhibition centre, whereas Dainis Bricis, Manager of Balttour, presented the Balttour fair and underlined its significance in the development of the tourism industry.
During the visit, both parties - BT 1 and the State Committee for Tourism Development of Uzbekistan - engaged in a constructive dialogue and exchanged with opinions on the development of the tourism industry, enlargement of the tourist flow and attraction of investments for improving the tourism infrastructure, as well as reviewed the directions for the development of the mutual co-operation.
The travel fairs Balttour (Riga, Latvia) and Tourism on the Silk Road (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) are the most significant meeting points of the tourism industries of Latvia and Uzbekistan. In order to promote the co-operation of the organisers of both fairs, a memorandum of bilateral co-operation was signed on 30 June. By signing the memorandum, both parties agree to facilitate the participation of interested tourism enterprises in both fairs, as well as strengthen the ties with representatives of the tourism business.
