Digitisation in tourism – a threat or an opportunity?

Is digitisation threatening the work of travel agencies, hotels and tourism information centres? Possibly. However, there are two sides to every coin! Therefore, we are inviting you to the “Balttour 2018” business forum to be held at Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga on 31 January, where you will be able to see the other side – the latest opportunities in tourism provided by the digital environment!

Tourism professionals will be acquainted with the main theme of the forum by specialists of the digital marketing training centre “Digital Journey”, who will go through all of the stages of digital marketing in the attraction of clients and management of their further actions, focusing on the field of tourism. It will be possible to acquire information on the best practices and most frequent obstacles, receive practically useful advice for everyday work, as well as take part in discussions.

“Digital Journey” recently performed an intensive and unique two-day programme at the business technology and innovation fair “RIGA COMM”, where hundreds of representatives of various fields listened to content on the digital environment and marketing. But this time, the content has been prepared specially for you – tourism professionals!

How ready are tourism enterprises to face the modern-day challenges of the field and where can your enterprise be found among others? – it will be possible to answer these questions with the help of Ēriks Lingebērziņš, Associate Professor and Manager of the Tourism Research Centre at “Turība” University, CEO of SIA “Balticvision Riga”, who will introduce those present to the results of the recently completed study “Development Trends of Latvian Tourism Enterprises or How Can I Be a Step Ahead of a Smart Client?”.

Whereas at the end of the forum, Sanda Teihmane, “airBaltic” Sales Manager in the Baltic states, will introduce the airline’s latest destinations, offer the possibility to meet representatives thereof and will also invite you to get a feel of the new destinations and journeys.

The forum welcomes specialists from outgoing and incoming travel agencies, hotels and enterprises providing accommodation services, local governments, as well as tourism information centres.

Tickets to the “Balttour 2018” business forum may be purchased here: https://balttour-forum.ticketforevent.com/ne/. The number of visitors is limited, therefore we invite you to purchase the tickets in due time. Follow the news – we will soon provide a detailed programme: www.balttour.lv/forum/!

As is known, the business forum serves as an introductory event to “Balttour”, the leading tourism fair in the Baltic states, therefore professionals of the field are also invited to visit “Balttour 2018” on 2–4 February with the already purchased forum ticket. It is a great opportunity to meet tourism industry representatives of all regions of Latvia and 40 countries of the world in one place, with all of them being open to communication, cooperation and exchange of experience.
