Balttour 2020 Forum brings together tourism professionals

On January 29, People Work hosted the Business Forum of the region's leading travel trade fair Balttour 2020, where 169 tourism professionals and marketing specialists discussed the current affairs and trends in tourism, influencer marketing, youth travel habits and industry’s best practices.

The special guest of the Balttour Forum was Arvid Axland, a renowned thought and visionary leader from Sweden who provided sensational examples of designing meaningful customer experience for the tourism industry.

Inese Šīrava, a director of Tourism Department of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIDA), informed participants about tourism in Latvia in 2019 and outlined trends for 2020. Dāvis Braučs, a head of Prospero's Social Media Division, described the travel habits of the Generation Z and how they will change travelling in the future; while Laura Celmāra, a digital marketing expert at Infinitum Agency and Digital Journey, told about diversity of tools and the ways content can be used to promote of a new tourism product.

Artūrs Mednis, a founder of New Black Agency, new media and digital marketing expert, offered an original presentation on trends in influencer marketing. A panel consisting of the PR specialist Kristīne Komarovska, the head of airBaltic's social media communications Diane Grudule, and the senior expert of the Tourism Marketing Department at LIDA Agita Salmiņa discussed the practical influencer marketing in Latvia. Specialists discussed influencer marketing promoting various tourism offers, best examples and experience.

Sanda Majore, the Key Account Manager Baltic States at airBaltic, revealed new flight destinations for 2020 – Yerevan (Armenia) and Yekaterinburg (Russia). Visitors to the forum could also enjoy delicacies kindly offered by the representatives of these countries.

The forum was attended by 169 professionals, more than half of whom represented tour operators, travel agencies, hotels, tourism destinations and facilities. Participants from tourism information centres, municipalities and public organisations were also widely represented. The forum was also attended by digital marketing experts, academic staff in tourism, carriers and media.
